Early career researchers are invited to an introductory training event focused on producing high-quality recombinant proteins for structural and functional studies. This is the first of three protein-focused workshops organized by the Biochemical Society. The session will cover the latest bioinformatic tools for construct design and characterization, practical tips for improving protein expression, purification, and stability, and methods for assessing protein quality using biophysical techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own proteins for analysis and can present a poster or short talk to discuss their specific challenges with experts and peers (abstract submission required). Key learning objectives include understanding the complete protein production pathway (design, expression, purification, characterization), applying bioinformatic and biophysical approaches (with hands-on data collection opportunities), and learning how to optimize and evaluate protein expression and purification.
