On December 1, Gladstone Institutes will host an event to honor Rudolf Jaenisch, MD, the recipient of the 2025 Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize. Dr. Jaenisch is being recognized for his pioneering contributions to the fields of epigenetics and stem cell biology. His foundational discoveries have significantly advanced the scientific community’s understanding of gene regulation, cellular reprogramming, and the immense therapeutic potential offered by regenerative medicine.

During this special event, Dr. Jaenisch will officially receive the award and deliver a scientific lecture centered on his groundbreaking work. As a founding member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and a professor at MIT, Dr. Jaenisch is internationally recognized as a pioneer of transgenic science. His current research continues to focus on the epigenetic regulation of gene expression, which has led to major advances in the creation and therapeutic application of embryonic and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.
